The University ID Card is your passport to the University of Virginia.  It provides you access to facilities across the Grounds and allows you to obtain services from Dining locations, the University Bookstores, Cavalier Computers, Elson Student Health Center, Laundry locations and more.

About

Cavalier Advantage is an account on your student or faculty/staff ID card, which is activated once funds are deposited with the University. Cavalier Advantage reduces the need for cash and offers additional value through discounts at select vendors.

Cavalier Advantage works as a debit account on your card; funds must be available in your account to use it. When you make a purchase with Cavalier Advantage, the balance decreases; purchases are no longer accepted when the balance reaches zero. Cash cannot be withdrawn from the account, and there is no minimum balance.

Deposits

Total per semester deposits to a Cavalier Advantage account cannot exceed $1,502 and balances carry over until graduation or withdrawal from the University.

Insert your UVA ID Card into the Cash Deposit Machine, then insert cash ($1's, $5's, $10's or $20's) and follow the machine prompts to confirm your balance.

Mail, Phone In-Person Deposits

There is a $52 minimum per deposit ($50 to the account; $2 processing fee) when making a deposit by phone, mail, or in person. 

Options include:

Complete the printable deposit form and mail it with your check or credit card information to UVA Cavalier Advantage, P.O. Box 400313, Charlottesville, VA 22904-4313.

Online Deposit

There is a $27 minimum per deposit ($25 to the account; $2 processing fee). Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover are accepted. Note: You need to provide your 9 digit UVA ID number.

Discounts

Cavalier Advantage is accepted at all Dining locations on-Grounds (including dining halls) except Darden and the Hospital. It is also accepted at vending machines, copiers, laundry machines, all Bookstore locations, Newcomb Hall Post Office, Central Grounds Parking Garage, Student Health and the Pharmacy, Cavalier Computers, and many other locations.

NOTE: When purchasing food at a location such as the Pavilion with an ID card, students should specify "Plus Dollars" or "Cavalier Advantage" to the cashier.

Save 10% on all regularly priced merchandise at TJ's Locker located at AFC (except at the Cavalier Computers satellite store inside TJ's).

Refunds

Upon graduation or withdrawal from the University, you can request a refund if your balance exceeds $30. A $20 processing fee is required for all refunds, which is subtracted from the remaining refundable balance. You can email your request to the office; include your name, the last 5 digits of your UVAID number, the reason for the refund, and where to send it. You have 60 days after leaving the University to request a refund.

Terms and Conditions

The Cavalier Advantage program is administered by the Office of Business Services in the Observatory Hill Dining Hall, on the corner of Alderman and McCormick Roads. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. 

The account will be credited if you return merchandise purchased with Cavalier Advantage funds.

Changes to these terms and conditions and procedures related to the Cavalier Advantage program will apply to all cards and supersede those in effect when the card was issued.
