ABOUT

Cavalier Advantage is an account on your student or faculty/staff ID card, which is activated once funds are deposited with the University. Cavalier Advantage works as a debit account on your card; funds must be available in your account to use it. When you make a purchase with Cavalier Advantage, the balance decreases; purchases are no longer accepted when the balance reaches zero. Cash cannot be withdrawn from the account, and there is no minimum balance. The account will be credited if you return merchandise purchased with Cavalier Advantage funds.

DEPOSITS

Total per semester deposits to a Cavalier Advantage account cannot exceed $1,502 and balances carry over until graduation or withdrawal from the University.

Online Deposit

There is a $12 minimum per deposit ($10 to the account; $2 processing fee).  Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover are accepted.

Phone and In-Person Deposits

There is a $12 minimum per deposit ($10 to the account; $2 processing fee) when making a deposit by phone or in person.

• Phone in a deposit, Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 4:30 p.m to 434-982-5735. 
• In person deposits at the Cavalier Card Office and University Bookstore.

REFUNDS

Upon graduation or withdrawal from the University, you can request a refund if your balance exceeds $30. A $20 processing fee is required for all refunds, which is subtracted from the remaining refundable balance. You can email your request to the office; include your name, the last 5 digits of your UVAID number, the reason for the refund, and where to send it. You have 60 days after leaving the University to request a refund.

• All Dining locations on-Grounds (including dining halls) except Darden and the Hospital
• Vending machines
• Housing laundry machines
• All Bookstore locations
• Cavalier Computers
• Bookstore Copy Center
• Self-service printers/copiers
• Newcomb Hall Post Office
• Pharmacy at Student Health and Wellness
• Pharmacy at Bookstore
• Cavalier Card Office

NOTE: When purchasing food at a location such as the Pavilion with an ID card, students should specify "Flex Dollars" or "Cavalier Advantage" to the cashier.

TERMS & CONDITIONS

The Cavalier Advantage program is administered by the Office of Business Services in the Observatory Hill Dining Hall, on the corner of Alderman and McCormick Roads. Office hours are 9:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Changes to these terms and conditions and procedures related to the Cavalier Advantage program will apply to all cards and supersede those in effect when the card was issued.
